A group of women in a drought-prone area near Pune learn how to take control over their bodies. And lives. And in the process, they come face to face with the powers that keep them the downtrodden, oppressed and voiceless.

Most of the women, who had no prior understanding of the political economy of health, were initiated into a self-help training programme called Sadaphuli by a group of health activists in Pune. Now their horizons have widened beyond mere diagnosis and treatment of diseases, to taking control of their lives through solidarity with their sisters in their villages.
