Imagine Kalpana is a documentary on the eminent freedom fighter Kalpana Dutta. The film traces her life and her achievements in the decade of the thirties, when Kalpana Dutta was a part of a revolutionary brigade based in Chittagong (now in Bangladesh) that defied and led an armed struggle against the British government between 1930 and 1934.

Shot after her death, the film uses photographs, paper clips and her audio interview to tell the fascinating story of the revolutionary activities of Ms. Dutta, her growing up and transformation into a communist. The film also portrays the inspiration that Ms. Dutta was to her contemporaries and her following generations.

Imagine Kalpana received an Honorable Mention at the IAWRT festival in 1999.
