A score of Indian films in Greece this year

2010 is proving to be a significant year for Indian documentary cinema, particularly in Greece. About 20 Indian films will have been screened altogether between two film festivals, the Rodos Ecofilms International Film and Visual Arts Festival (held from 22-27 June 2010) and Kos Ippokratis 2nd International Health Film Festival (to be held from from 1st-6th September 2010).

Films like Latent City, Volume Zero, Reviving Faith, Chilika Banks, Boatmens Journey, Do you and Underground Inferno competed at Ecofilms. Latent City won an award for the Best Medium Length Film while Underground Inferno took a Best Short Length Film Award. The films Death Life Etc. and Harun Arun were screened under the Panorama section.

Greek audiences can now look forward to another series of Indian films which will be shown at the Health Film Festival to be held on the Island of Kos, the birthplace of Hippocrates , the father of medicine. While 5 Indian films participate in the competitive section, the last two days will see a Panorama section tribute to Magic Lantern Foundation. Five films distributed by Under Construction will be screened as part of this section- A Healer is Born, Adha Asman, Born at Home, Bushman’s Secret, Where Healing is a Tradition.
