The Department of Sociology, University of Delhi, organised the International Ethnographic film festival from 26 to 30 November 2008. Jamia Millia Islamia, Alliance française, Embassy of Brazil, Dutch Embassy and French Embassy supported the festival.
There were 4 simultaneous venues at Delhi School of Economics, School of Environmental Studies, AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia and Alliance Francaise. The festival aimed to enable an engagement with the ethnographic strategies deployed by filmmakers on different cultures and traditions as well as the documentation techniques adopted by ethnographers.
It was a pleasure to see many institutions, students, academicians, film lovers interacting on a common platform. Three films distributed by Under Construction were screened at the festival, namely
Shit by Amudhan R. P.
Every good marriage Begins with Tears by Simon Chambers
Notes on man Capture by Nandini bedi
An Under Construction film display also stirred much curiosity and interest for new buyers and film lovers, that continued through many enquiries later at our offices.
