Qualifications
It is not necessary to have an extensive background in film or video production; however, good computer and communication skills, organisational skills, a good sense of time management, and the ability to prioritize and juggle tasks are essential traits.  Interns will have many exciting learning opportunities but will also be expected to do clerical work.  Interns must be able to take initiative, see tasks to completion, and problem-solve; strong writing skills are a plus.

To be considered for assisting in any ongoing film project, Interns should have experience in CorelDraw, Photoshop, Illustrator and Final Cut Pro.

Description
Interns at Magic Lantern Foundation will have the opportunity to learn how a local non-profit media organization is run and how documentary films are developed and distributed.

Internship duties would comprise a mix of office administration and may include assistance with ongoing documentary projects.  Project assistance takes many forms and can include: production work; post-production work; project management; project research; and film festival submissions.

Internship is full time and runs to approximately 8 weeks. Magic Lantern Foundation does not remunerate interns.

Interns will be expected to work from 10:00 – 5:00, Monday to Friday except during screenings, festivals, special events and shoots that take place outside of regular working hours.

Specific tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Research (festivals, distribution and marketing, project related)
  • Preparing for, assisting in the implementation of, and attending local screenings / festivals / events.
  • Assisting in organising and tracking sales & distribution
  • General admin – shipping, filing, answering phones/door, database entry
  • Writing/Editing/updating: information of the web / newsletter articles, Press and PR material.
