Gargi Sen    

Gargi Sen is a documentary filmmaker, distributor, curator of film festivals and a teacher of mass communication theory and research. She has made documentries since 1989 and many of her films have won awards and have been screened in national and international festivals.

Since 2005 she has set up a not-for-profit national distribution centre called: Under Construction that aims to distribute and disseminate independent films. She has also curated many international film festivals including 'Other Worlds Are Breathing' 2004 and 2005 for the World Social Forum in Mumbai, India and Porto Allegre, Brazil. Recently she curated 'Persistence Resistance: a festival of contemporary political films' a festival of international cinema aimed at locating the new and emerging documentary language.

Ms. Sen teaches mass communication theory and research at the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi for the MA programme and leads the MA research for the institute.

Gargi Sen heads the media arts and hman rights organisation: Magic Lantern Foundation (MLF) and her interest lie at the cross roads of culture, communication, cinema and academia.

   
     
Ranjan De    

Ranjan De began working on independent documentaries in the mid-eighties and co-founded MLF. Ranjan has been involved in most of MLF's films in various capacities, as cameraperson, scriptwriter, editor, director and co-director. He also designs and conducts training, especially of social activists and students, on various aspects of filmmaking.

   
     
Sujit Ghosh    

Sujit Ghosh is another founding trustee of MLF and works with a Lucknow-based human rights network, the Dynamic Action Group (DAG), which focuses on the economic, social and cultural rights of the Dalit people, Currently Sujit, as part of DAG, is involved with a monitoring the National Employment Guarantee Scheme and the Mid Day meal Scheme in 28 districts of UP.

   
     
Rohini Singh    

Rohini Singh graduated in International Law and works as a corporate trainer. Some of the companies she has conducted trainings include Amway, Vertex, US Aid, NTPC, IFFCO Tokio, General Electric (GE), Glaxo Smith Kline, Siemens, Sri Ram Fertilizers, Hewitt, American Express, VST, Airtel, Valvoline Cummins and American Express.

After the birth of her child, she gave up full-time work and drifted into pursuing unexplored areas of interest. She ended up writing a number of cook-books, two of which became internationally acclaimed best sellers, has written books for children and along the way, became a proficient freelance editor privileged to edit books for leading authorities in fields of art, literature, music and fiction writing. Simultaneously, she began to dabble in an area which today has become a consuming passion: holistic healing and alternative therapies.

At present, Rohini leads public personal growth workshops teaching Reiki, a radical energy tool called Emotional Freedom techniques, and the Enneagram, an ancient system of typing personalities. She is certified to practice Hypnotherapy, Kinesiology, Reflexology, and Aura Therapy all of which she synthesizes to facilitate healing and counseling. She has been invited to conduct her workshops in Singapore, Germany, Dubai, Pakistan and the U.S.A.

She writes for newspapers and magazines and is currently working on a book, due for release by the end of the year by an international publishing house.

   
     
Simran Singh    

Simran Singh works as a Principal Consultant for the Simran Singh and Associates (SSA.) SSA is a Brand and Retail advisory working with the apparel and lifestyle goods sector. As Principal Consultant at SSA Simran has been involved with strategic consulting projects, project implementation and networking with well-known retailers, brands, NGOs and industry opinion leaders in the country. Some of the recent clients and areas she worked with include: Pantaloon Retail: Entry strategy (designer prêt); Piramyd Retail: Entry Strategy (product) for North India; Ebony Retail: Expansion and repositioning, Aza Fashions Pvt. Ltd: Entry Strategy; TCNS Clothing co: Brand Launch of ‘W’; Blackberrys: Improving service levels; Proline : Repositioning; Fashion Design Council of India: India Fashion Week; Plan International: Market Viability study (craft); Development Alternatives Inc (Washington): Networking micro enterprises; Craft Resource Center (Bhuj): Market penetration; International Trade Center (Geneva) : Market penetration for Sri Lankan factories.

Simran is also a visiting faculty at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi and at National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. She also regularly write for leading business dailies like Business Standard, Economic Times and industry specific publications.

   
     
Sujata Mehra    

Sujata Mehra is a practising corporate lawyer and an alumnus of the prestigious St. Stephen’s college. She has written widely on gender and law and on consumer law. Two of her publications are used extensively by practising lawyers and law schools. She’s a mother of two girls and distributes her time between their upbringing and legal practice.

   
     
Gurpreet Sidhhu    

Gurpreet Sidhhu is an alumnus of the National Institute of Design and specialised in Exhibition Design. She heads and runs the successful alternative shop called ‘People Tree’ in New Delhi. People Tree provides a space for various types of alternative practices, artefacts, products and lifestyles. She is also closely associated with different grassroots movements in the country and works with them in different capacities. Her interests lie in the area of skill development of traditional crafts people, human rights and gender.
